Day 27. The Kee

Sunday, March 20, 2011

I’m tired of hearing on Facebook about how sunny and warm it is in Springfield while it is cool and rainy here. Today was gross. It rained the entire day. The only thing we had planned was to meet up with our new friend, Kee, for coffee. We had met Kee at a a party last weekend. We walked out to the car and as we were crossing the street the car alarm for a truck across the street started blaring as a big palm tree branch came crashing down on it. We dove behind a nearby car, narrowly missing a branch coming down, I pulled out my machine gun and we fired in the air as the palm trees rained branches down upon us. It was Battle L.A.

Well, the first part of that story is true.

Coffee with Kee was great. He has been an actor for over 20 years. He was born in Singapore and raised in Australia and he seems to be one part philosopher and two parts listener.

Here are some words of wisdom from Kee:

-Go to lots of auditions so the process feels natural

-Don’t go to an audition trying to get booked.

-Have good balance in your life. It can’t all be about trying to be successful

-Acting is all about connecting with the other person and has nothing to do with what is going on around you.

Then he recommended a good Thai restaurant and invited me to dinner on Tuesday night. The rest of the day was watching Fargo, watching basketball, and eating dinner. This is Michelle’s last night and it brings a lot of feelings with it. She doesn’t want to leave and I don’t want her to leave. I think I’ll write more on this tomorrow though.
